YDL Match 2 - Sunday 2nd June
Team Oxfordshire travelled to Yeovil on Sunday 2 June 2013 to be placed 2nd in the second of four matches in the Midland Premier 2 Division of the Youth Development League. The first placed team this time was Cornwall and Plymouth with Notts (first match winners) coming 3rd. The third match will start with Team Oxfordshire and Nottinghamshire on equal points. Team Oxfordshire is a composite team of under 20 and under 17 athletes from Abingdon Amblers, Radley Athletics Club, White Horse Harriers and Oxford City Athletics Club. Georgia Harvey (AAAC) ran a PB of 2:18.8 to come first in the U17 800m and a further PB 26.7 seconds in the 200m to come 3rd. Simi Fajemisin (OCAC) had 2 wins for the U17s running the 100m inn 12.7 and jumping 5.63 metres in the Long Jump. Zack Smith (U17 WHH) ran 11.6 to match his PB in the 100m. Tim Stephens (U17 OCAC) jumped 1.80m and Hayley Perrin (U20 RAC) jumped 1.55 to win their respective High Jump events. The afternoon ended with the usual excitement of the relays with victory for the U20 4x100 men’s team of Matt Gain (OCAC), Ed Burgess (RAC), Joe Finch (RAC) and Jordan Dorrian (RAC) and the U20 4x400 women’s team of Gina Sunderland (RAC), Hayley Perrin (RAC), Georgia Harvey (AAAC) and Becky Hodgson (WHH).
