2011/12 McCain Cross Challenge Series

The McCain UK Cross Challenge is back for 2011 – 2012, taking in 5 key cross country fixtures across the UK throughout the autumn/winter season.
With the support of UKA’s principle partner, McCain, UKA is able to offer 5 high quality competitive opportunities for athletes looking to post qualification marks for the forthcoming European Cross Country Championships in Slovenia.

Watlington XC 10k Winter run

A Winter 10k run is taking place on December 4th 2011 in the Chiltern Hills. All proceeds go to Help for Heroes.
If you like hills, great views and a friendly relaxed atmosphere then you can enter this event by completing the entry form attached. The race is much cheaper if you sign up in advance.

Volunteers needed for measuring new cross country courses

Radley A.C. is planning to host a cross-country event for the 2011/2012 season. The location will be Tilsley Park and the surrounding fields. This location has never been used for holding a cross country event on this scale before; as a result we need to establish courses with appropriate lengths for the various age groups for the first time.
 
We are asking for any volunteers who are willing to help us measure the course lengths – especially people who have Garmin watches (GPS tracking watches for runners).

The County needs a team manager for the juniors!

The county is looking for anyone willing to look after the junior team, who will represent Oxfordshire at the CAU Inter-Counties Cross Country at Cofton Park, West Birmingham on Saturday 5 March 2011.  Selections for the teams are made primarily from the County Cross Country Championships, which are this year being combined with the Oxford Mail League XC Sunday 2nd January 2011, Horspath Road, Oxford.    It is hoped a volunteer will come forward by the date of the XC championships, to give a chance to meet the juniors who will be eligible for the team and to check their

Oxfordshire Cross Country Championships – 2 January 2011

UNDER UK ATHLETICS RULES (except Mini-Minors) The above Championships will be held at Horspath Sports Ground, Horspath Road, Oxford, OX4 2RR. Ordnance Survey map reference 561045. They will be combined with the Oxford Mail Cross Country League, January meeting 2010-2011 season. Competitors may compete in either or both races if eligible. Those competing in either the County Championship or both races will be issued with separate, distinctive race numbers, which they should collect on the day. If competing in the OML only, wear the normal race number.

Brill Hilly 10K & 1K Fun Run

Sunday 3rd April 2011, 11.00am at Brill Sports & Social Club, Brill, Bucks.
Course: 6k downhill; start descends 120m with breathtaking views of Oxon and Bucks. A real challenging course with a 1000m ascent to finish – this race is worth at least 12k!! Perfect final London Marathon warm-up!

Buckinghamshire Berkshire & Oxfordshire XC Championships results

Attached are the results for the Buckinghamshire, Berkshire & Oxfordshire Cross Country Championships held at Oxford on Saturday 20th November 2010. There were some good performances from Radley athletes - C. Hewitt (U15B) 2nd, C. Von Eitzen (U15B) 4th, G. Bridge (U20W) 6th, G.Miller (u20M) 7th in their respective age groups.
(Please note there is an error in the results for the under 15 boys - Chris Hewitt came 2nd place not C. Miller)
