SAL Match 1 – Peterborough, 19 April 2014
Radley travelled to Peterborough for it's first SAL Division 1 fixture of 2014.
The most outstanding performance of the day came from Ramone (Chips) Smith who ran 2 pbs and a division 1 league record in winning both the 100m and 200m comfortably. He clocked 10.6 in his first 100m of the season for the division 1 record and also clocked 21.6 in the 200m. Sprint partner Jordan Dorrian made it a clean sweep in the sprints winning the B Strings in 11.1 and 22.3 as well as winning the LJ in 6.65m.
Thrower Kathryn Woodcock also had a good day gaining 2 pbs in discus and hammer (details of the Women's report to follow from Andrea cc'd into this email.
Great team efforts came from Stuart Ferguson who won the 800m, 1500 and the b string 2k SC and ran a great leg in the 4x400 relay, Chris Hewitt who did 400m, 2k SC and both relays, and teammate James Cody who won 800 and ran the 1500 and 4x4. Unfortunately the small and inexperienced team (only 10 men and many 14/15 year old ladies) could not hold off tough competition from the home team (Nene Valley) and a strong Bedford team. Resulting in a 3rd place overall.
