Radley Athletes Star in UK Championships

A small number of Radley athletes competed at the Sainsbury's British Championships on 29th June 2014 in Birmingham's Alexander Stadium.

Ramon Smith (Chips) just missed out on the men’s 100m final by 0.04secs. After 2 semi-finals he was lying in a qualifying spot until the third semi where other athletes such as Deji Tobais and Kieran Daly benefited from a stronger tailwind edging Chips out. Chips however clocked a new pb of 10.35 smashing his own club record which he set a few months ago (10.46) in Loughborough.

There appears to be more to come from 31-year-old as he has just recovered from a slight hamstring injury which he picked up at the Bedford International Games at the end of May and could have improved both his start and finish in the actual race himself.

Rosie Kingston finished fifth in her 100mH heat clocking her second fastest time of 14.70.

Emma O’Hara (still U20) threw slightly under par with a 55.74m hammer throw finishing eleventh overall finding the senior competition tough.

Carolyn Plateau was seventh in her heat of the women's 800m in 2mins 6.51secs.
