Southern Men's League - Andover 2nd May 2009

Radley Men’s team traveled to Andover on Saturday for their first league match of the season. (Full results on the results page)

In what was a tight match Radley came away a credible 2nd. Steve Wren had an outstanding day gaining three 1st placing H/J 1.75m L/J 6.01m P/V 3.20m which was a PB and C/R backed up with three 2nd placings T/J 11.40m S/P 10.22 PB Jav 37.59m further veteran club records were broken during the match, débutante Brian Taylor broke 2 records in the L/J 5.70m and in the T/J 10.89m and Alex Ahmet in the Jav 28.57m while Alastair Duncan got Pb in the discus 22.95m .

Paul Jegou had a double 1st in the 5000m 17.20.5 and in the 1500m B string 4.24.7Phillipe Essink won the 800m in a time of 1.58.6 while Stuart Ferguson was 2nd in the b string 2.03.7 then ran and won the 1500m in 4.21.8.
Another débutante was James Broughton running his first ever 400mh 4 th 66.0 and 2nd in the 200m 23.9.
Mick Cottam had a busy day running in the 5000m 2nd 20.30.0 and the 3000msc 13.43.1but a good all round team performance places Radley in 7th place in the league.
