Masters European Indoor Championships, Ancona Italy
Two athletes from Radley AC flew the flag for GBR recently - Alastair Duncan and Ben Owen. Huge congratulations to them both as Masters do not get the recognition they deserve; the standard of competition was very high with large numbers of entries.
Alastair Duncan M55 just missed the 60m semi final running 8.41.
In his 200m semi final he stormed round to 5th in 27.04 (posting a sb of 26.56 in the heat.)
In his 400m semi final he dominated the entire race but was just pipped at the post with 60.27 - another sb. Hampered by illness this season it was amazing his determination in reaching these standards, congratulations.
Ben Owen M35 just missed the 60m final by 0.02 running 7.26 in the semi final.
In his 200m he not only won his heat but won his semi final in a sb of 22.73.
In the final he won the bronze in 22.76 - becoming 3rd in Europe is no easy feat!
Well done to these two quality athletes who showed strength of character competing under pressure at major championships. We wish you all the best for the forth coming outdoor season.
