Alpha Beta Trophy Meeting - 16 April 2011 - Lee Valley
Radley kick-started their season with the annual Alpha beta trophy meeting at Lee Valley.
There were some great performances and the usual great team spirit.
Highlights in the U15 came from Lois Waknell who once again produced 2 pbs in LJ (4.93m) and another in 200m (25.92) as well as winning 100m.
Team mate Gina Sunderland gained the team a double in the 200m with a massive pb to clock 26.63, an improvement of 7/10th second)
Ellen Chung also improved her javelin pb to 19.98
But the most impressive race of the day came from U13 sprinter Freya Rowe who tried her hand at the 800m and after taking the rest of the field after just over 400m and finished with an impressive sprint clocked a very good time (2.39.97) to win the U15 B string race in style.
Overall the U15s produced an excellent team performance to come 4th.
In the seniors, Tara Kafke knocked 0.7 off her 400m pb to clock 57.86 in her first race of the season to win the event.
U20 Stacey Hazell improved her 100mH time by a massive 1.6s to clock 16.94s, which bodes well for Stacey as she makes the dfficult transition fto the senior hurdles
U20 Gemma Bridge also ran a pb in the 1500m (5.11.03) having also gained the Team valuable points in the 800m earlier in the day. Gemma usually concentrates on XC and road running but is not trying her hand at track too.
Overall the seniors came 3rd just a few points behnd 2nd.
This lead to a combined result of 2nd overall behind Stevenage, so an excellent start for the 2011 track season!
