Two of Radley masters athletes brought home a trawl of medals from this years British indoor championships – 7 medals in all between the two of them – not a bad weekends work!
Coach Kay Reynolds, who coaches both athletes was very pleased with their performances and believes this bodes well for the forthcoming track season. Performances are as follows:
Natasha Mighty (W35)
60m 1st 8.89
60mH 1st 10.71
Shot 1st 11.06 (but afterwards got disqualified for incorrect reporting procedures)
Sunday saw the U11 Regional Sportshall competition at Burgess Hill. Representing Oxfordshire from Radley were Rachel Bibby and Zoe Chung in the girls section and Robby Crowther, TJ McClimont, Jake Goddard and Tom Murray in the boys section. From the very first event, Oxfordshire looked strong, winning the Obstacle Relays for both boys and girls. The day continued in the same way seeing the boys and girls teams working well together as a team and always threatening the rest of the teams from around the South East of England.
The Sportshall League has come to a close for the 2009/10 season. Well done to all the athletes Who have represented the club.
Please find attached results from the last Sportshall event.
Radley youngster Christian von Eitzen recorded a brilliant second place in the under 13 boys’ race at Saturday’s inter-Counties Cross Country Championship in Birmingham.
The promising youngster, winner of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League age group title, was the stand-out Oxfordshire athlete at the event at Cofton Park.
He was always in the running for victory over the 3km course, but just missed out on victory by one second in a sprint for the line.
But von Eitzen’s time of 10mins 23secs represented a truly excellent performance.
On a fine spring like morning Radleys young athletes continued their excellent cross country form at Oxford on Sunday. It was the final event of the Oxford Mail series and the time for the final placings to be decided. In the U11 girls race Nawal Elkirate continued to dominate and won her fifth race of the season to win the overall girls title. Harriet Batstone continued her impressive end to the season finishing third in her second successive race and Shelbie Jackson on her debut finished a very creditable ninth.
It has been decided there will be a club sub-committee for fundraising who will meet quarterly. The committee felt that Alex Ahmet and Vanessa Chung should be on the committee as well as parents who would be willing to spare some time. If you would like to be part of this group please contact a committee member for more information. The first meeting is planned to take place before the end of April 2010.
