Young Leaders Camp 2011

Following the success of the first three Young Leaders Camps, held in 2008, 2009 and 2010, UKA are again working with England Netball and Gymnastics England to offer one hundred and fifty 16-19 year olds the opportunity to attend a four day residential camp, where they will get the chance to develop their leadership and volunteering skills alongside other athletics leaders.

Congratulations to Lois Waknell & Alex Cross

Lois qualified for the National Age-group Indoor Championships at the NIA in Birmingham last weekend. She progressed through the rounds of the U15 200m and successfully reached the final where she achieved a superb fifth place. Her best time of the day was 26.77s which now ranks her 11th in her age group in the UK.

As well as the 200m, she competed in the 60m, where she progressed to the semi-final, missing out on a place in the final by just 100th of a second, smashing her pb in a time of 8.19s.

Junior athletes - signing in and out

We would like to remind parents that children should be signed in with their coach at the beginning of each session (not dropped off in the car park) and collected in the same way at the end of the session. We cannot take responsibility for athletes until they have been handed over to their coach and although we will always endeavour to contact you beforehand, there may be times when training arrangements have changed at the last minute due to weather conditions or when your child’s coach would like to speak to you at the beginning or end of a session. If you are arriving late for any reaso

Keith Turner

It is with great sadness to hear of the death of a former Committee member and team manager Keith Turner. After a long illness, Keith unfortunately lost his fight for life on Sunday 23rd January. His family have reported that he had many fond memories of the Radley Ladies days at Radley College. His wife Christine and daughters Karen and Nicky were also members of the Club for many years and Nicky still holds the U15 girls LJ club record of 5.59m set in 1990.
