On Saturday Emma O'Hara represented England in the Schools International against athletes representing Scotland, Wales and Ireland. In poor conditions the competition was won by the Scottish athlete Kimberley Reed who following her 10th position in the World Youth Championships threw a championship record of 54m. The competition for the other medals was very tight and it took a final round throw of more than 47m for Emma to secure the silver.
Radley A.C. travelled to Perivale for this trophy meeting with a very family orientated team, which consisted of father and daughter Mick and Abbey Cottam, mother and daughter Elaine and Faith Brew, mother and two sons Jackie, James and Adam Breslin, husband and wife Alex and Lyn Ahmet and also sisters Hayley and Amelia Perrin.
(results are at the bottom of this post)
Another impressive win saw Radley’s men’s team go top of the table in the SML Div 2
Radley’s youngsters did the Club proud when stepping into the breach as regular older athletes were ill, became injured, or unavailable on the day. The U17s had a great day, with 2 CRs being broken; Joe Finch in the TJ (12.08m) and Jordan Dorrian in the 200m (22.7).
There is a Vets league meeting at Tilsley Park on Monday 11 July, this means the track will be closed to athletes normally training on Monday after 6pm.
Go Active are looking to recruit more Jog Leaders in the area and are keen to find out if there is anyone within the clubs that is keen to become a Jog Leader and attend the free training. If anyone is interested please contact Vicki Galvin at the Oxfordshire Sport Partnership for more information. See the attached leaflet.
