SEAA Regional U15 Championships - Ashford 17 Aug

Luisa Chantler Edmond (Radley AC/Cherwell School) already the national indoor shot champion, took on her close rival Sophie Mace (Walton AC), the number one ranked athlete, at the U15 SEAA championships at Ashford Kent. Sophie started with a good throw of 12-01mts, a distance Luisa had not been able to achieve as yet. It looked as though it might be a battle for silver! After a good opener of 11-70mts Luisa set a new PB in round 3 of 12- 17mts.

British Senior Champs

3 Radley athletes competed in the above this weekend.  U20 Emma O'Hara came 9th in the hammer with a throw of 53.35. This was a great performance as the only U20 in the competition.  110m Hurdler Ashley Johnson had a good run to come 5th in his heat against eventual winner Will Sharman, clocking a 14.73. At one point it looked as though he was going to grab 3rd but clipping the last few hurdles slipped him back a few places.  David Gain was the other competitor, taking part in the 200m.

Great Performances at English Schools

In great weather eight Radley Athletes competed in Birmingham at the English Schools Championships over the weekend. Between them they won three medals. Emma O'Hara Gold in the Senior Girls Hammer, Kathryn Woodcock Silver in the Intermediate Girls Discus and Luisa Chantler Edmond Silver in the Junior Girls Shot. Alice Hopkins finished 5th in the Junior Girls 75m Hurdles, Tom Anstice 10th in the Intermediate Boys Javelin, Ellie Smith 17th in the Junior Girls Discus. In the Sprints Lois Waknell (100m) and Jordan Dorrian (200m) were eliminated in the heats.
