We advise athletes to estimate the start time of their track events by looking at which heat they are competing in. This is of particular importance to 100m, 200m and 800m runners (it will take us about an hour to get through all the 100m heats), please try and avoid getting to the start too early.
This match saw Radley come face-to-face with the current league winners and last year's champions, Southampton. Radley athletes put in a fine effort and secured second place on the day, putting them in a commanding position, with one match to go, to secure second in the league overall - which would be a tremendous achievement!
Jordan Dorrian and Stuart Ferguson bagged two A string victories apiece, while Ramone Smith, Will Cullen, Ashley Johnson and Tom Anstice also triumphed.
Final results of the first Oxfordshire Junior T&F League are attached. A huge well done to everyone and a big thank you to our officials, parents and helpers for their support on the day.
Radley travelled to Peterborough for it's first SAL Division 1 fixture of 2014.
The most outstanding performance of the day came from Ramone (Chips) Smith who ran 2 pbs and a division 1 league record in winning both the 100m and 200m comfortably. He clocked 10.6 in his first 100m of the season for the division 1 record and also clocked 21.6 in the 200m. Sprint partner Jordan Dorrian made it a clean sweep in the sprints winning the B Strings in 11.1 and 22.3 as well as winning the LJ in 6.65m.
Sunday the 11th May saw Radley AC's first appearance in the Heart of England League at Nuneaton. The team performed exceptionally winning the match by 80 points !Exceptional performances on the day were U17 girl, Faith Brew with 2 new Pb's, one in the 800m with a time of 2.19.9 finishing in 1st place and in the 200m with a time of 26.7seconds finishing in 2nd place. U17 boy Ryan Craze sprinted to success in the 100m with a time of 11.4 seconds and 22.9 in the 200m finishing 2nd in both races, completing his trio of events with a time of 53.5 seconds in the 400m and finishing 1st.
Radley hosted the second SAL Division 1 fixture of 2014 against the top 2 teams in the league and an extremely strong Basingstoke Team. Many international athletes were on show and the standard of performance in some events unprecedented.
This fixture saw a very small Radley team travel to Havering, Essex for their SAL fixture. There were a few individuals who excelled on the day the best of which was Aislin Baird who threw a masssive 2.5m pb in her hammer to record a best throw of 44.51m, winning the event by a large margin. Aislinn also recorded a pb in her discus later in the afternoon with a mark of 30.39m. Hannes Petzer also recorded 2 pbs, one in his main event javelin with a throw of 48.57m and the shot with 10.14m. Team mate Gwynn Wallace recorded a seasons best in the javelin for a double win (40.26m).
If you have previously attended a Coaching Assistant/Level 1 Assistant Coach course and would like to progress to a coach there is an Athletics Coach course scheduled to take place in Milton Keynes, dates and venues are listed below. If you wish to apply then your application must be received before the 29th August 2014. The standard course cost is £400, but those working with affiliated clubs are entitled to a reduced price of £250.
