SAL Match 4 – Tilsley Park, 4 July 2015

Radley AC hosted the 4th round SAL match at Tilsley Park on Saturday.

Despite the fixture clashing with many of the U17 proms Radley fielded a strong team which came out easy winners in this Div 2W fixture.

The highlight of the day came from hammer thrower Aislinn Baird who beat her own Hammer CR by over 1m to record 46.43m (and a win by 12m). Fellow throwers Kathryn Woodcock, Christina Nick and Luisa Chantler also dominated the other throwing events with Kathryn’s Discus throw on 42.75m gaining her female athlete of the match with 839 points.

English Schools' Regional Combined Events – Nuneaton 27/28 June 2015

The opportunity to represent Oxfordshire, with a chance of getting to the English Schools' National finals in Birmingham and possibly onward to represent England was only taken by 11 athletes this year.

4 boys, 1 under 15, 2 under 17 and 1 under 19 – so no team as it takes 3 to make a team in any age group: 7 girls with 4 u15 girls and 3 u17 girls so 2 teams but no sen girls at all!

Those that did go oozed quality from the start and their efforts paid off with Alice Hopkins winning the Inter Girls and Sam Way the Inter Boys.

UKA Age Group Consultations

UKA is to adopt the IAAF rule book from April 1, 2016. Age group consultation concerns whether the adoption of the IAAF rule book should include changing UKA age groups from the current U20, U17, U15 and U13 categories to the IAAF’s U20, U18, U16 and U14 categories.

The impact the proposed age group changes would have on hurdles, steeplechase and throws specifications available to download in a proposed age group changes document here.
