Chips just misses out on final
Following Ramone (Chips) Smith's recent success at the Birmingham Games where he won the 60m with a personal best time of 6.74s he took on the best sprinters in the UK at the British Championships in Sheffield. He won his heat in a comfortable 6.80s, followed that up with a 2nd place in his semi-final with 6.78s to make it to the hotly contested final. A fantastic achievement! In the final the competition proved just a little too hot and he came 6th with a time of 6.78s showing consistency across the 3 rounds. The race was won by the new kid on the block Chijindu Ujah who ran 6.57s showing his 2014 outdoor form (9.98s for 100m) is in danger during 2015. To put these recent performances into context, Ramone's 6.74 equals the time run this indoor season by the famous Dwayne Chambers.
Ramone, not known for his starts, is showing great promise for the forthcoming outdoor season where he hopes to improve on his 10.35 from last season.
